Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa says Amulya, who raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans has had links with Naxals
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, on Friday, alleged that Amulya Leona, who raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans during an anti-CAA rally has had links with Naxals. Yediyurappa said that bail should not be given to Amulya and added that she should be awarded proper punishment for her actions.
“Bail should not be given to Amulya. Her father has also said he won’t protect her. Its proved now that she had contacts with Naxals. Proper punishment should be given,” Yediyurappa said. “Prima facie it is clear that there is a conspiracy going on to disturb law and order with such incidents,” Yediyurappa told reporters in Mysuru.
“If organisations that are behind her are inquired into, things will come out. It is clear that she had links with Naxals in the past. In this backdrop, she should be punished and the action should be taken against organisations that are behind her,” he further said.
On Thursday, Leona was seen shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad‘ slogans during a rally in Bengaluru. The event was attended by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who was visibly startled to see her raise the slogans. He rushed to stop her from continuing with the rant. “I condemn this statement. The woman is not associated with us. Humare liye Bharat zindabad tha, zindabad rahega,” Owaisi later said.
Earlier today, Amulya’s father said that action should be taken against her in accordance with the law. “It is an unforgivable mistake, she has caused pain to Indians. I’m deeply disturbed…action should be taken against her in accordance with the law, she is around 19, we will have to find out why she said it and who is behind it,” he was quoted as saying by news agencies.
“She is a bright girl…I have tried to tell her not to involve herself in such activities after I got to know she was involved in anti-CAA, anti-NRC protests and complete her education first,” he said.
