  • Claim- It is cheaper than normal plastic and also beneficial for the environment.

RAIPUR: 3 students of National Institute of Technology, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, have invented a plastic that is 100% biodegradable, which is perishable. It usually takes 100 years to become a single use plastic. At the same time, it will be destroyed in just one year. It can also be recycled and brought into use. In such a situation, this single use can also prove to be a better alternative to plastic. For this event, students have been awarded first prize in ‘Pukar Go Green Fest’ held at NIT.

Biodegradable Plastic

Students Nikhil Verma, Krishnendu and Nihal Pandey have made this plastic by mixing glycerin and belegar in maize flour (starch). That is, even if you throw it out, it does neither harm the environment nor animals. They claim that its cost is much less than the existing plastic.

Prepared it in 3 months, passed in lab tests

The students said that it took them three months to make it. This was then tested in the lab, in which this test was successful. Student Nikhil Verma says that we had prepared it for competition, but now we will take it forward and bring it to market.
