Digitization: The Government Earned Rs.54 Crore Daily From Fastag In January; 1622 Crore In The First Month Of The Year

The government has earned more than Rs 54 crore from the toll plaza from Fastag in January. The toll tax is being charged on the plaza from Fastag. However, one-fourth of toll booths on the highway will be able to be paid both by cash and fastag. Under Electronic Toll Collection System, more than 1.25 crore Fastags have been issued so far. NHAI has made FASTAG mandatory on all its toll plazas from 15 February.

These are the toll collection figures from Fastag in December

  • In January 2020, around 930 million transactions have been done from Fastag on the toll plaza on the National Highway. This earned the government Rs 1622 crore.
  • In December, the government earned Rs 1256 crore from these toll plazas through Fastag. During this time, 60 million transactions were done from Fastag.
  • In November there were 30 million transactions from Fastag at the toll plaza. In November, these transactions generated around Rs 774 crore.
  • In October 2019, there were 3 crore 10 lakh transactions from Fastag, in which the government earned Rs 703 crore.

Will also be able to pay for parking and fuel with Fastag

  • Apart from collecting tax on toll tax, fuel payment and vehicle parking charge can also be paid across the country soon. It has started at Hyderabad Airport, where car parking and other charges will be paid by FASTag. It will be known as Fastag 2.0. After the success in Hyderabad, the project will also be started at Delhi Airport.
  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways informed that the Fastag 2.0 pilot project has been launched in two phases. The first phase is actually a controlled pilot test, under which only ICICI tags will be used. The second phase of the pilot project will cover the tags issued by all other banks.
