TENNIS : America’s 21-year-old tennis player Sofia Kenin won the women’s singles title at the first Grand Slam Australian Open of the year. Sofia reached the final of a Grand Slam for the first time. She defeated two Grand Slam champions Spain’s Garbin Muguruza 4-6 6-2 6-2. Kenin became the youngest player to win the tournament after 2008. The last time when Maria Sharapova of Russia became champion, she was 20 years old.
Kenin reached the top-10 for the first time in the WTA rankings with this win. She finished seventh straight from 15th. He is the top American player in the ranking. He overtook Serena Williamson (now ranked 10th).

Kenin became the 18th player to win the Australian Open for America. He said after the match, “I like this tournament. Thanks to all I will definitely try to come next year.
