New Delhi: Bodo peace deal has been signed in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Bishwa Sharma. During this time all the big leaders associated with the Bodo movement were involved. Amit Shah said that on January 30, 1535 cadres will surrender with weapons. He said that 2900 civilians, 239 security personnel and close to 900 people associated with the Bodoland movement lost their lives in the Bodoland movement. People of North East used to consider themselves as cut off, but now Modi ji has worked for the development of North-East. Some time ago a similar group of Tripura and the Bru community has been signed and it has been decided to settle in Assam itself. The Home Minister said that on January 30, people associated with this group will surrender with 1535 cadre weapons. We assure that the government will work for the development of the Bodo community. With this agreement, the possibility of partition of Assam has ended. This peace deal will decide the golden future of the people of Assam and Bodo community. Shah said, ‘I assure all the representatives that all the promises will be fulfilled within the prescribed limit’.

Let us tell you that the top leadership of four factions of the All Democratic Bodo Student Union, the National Democratic Front of Boroland, (NDFB), a banned militant group in Assam, were involved. Giving information about this agreement, cabinet minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma in Assam government said that the protection of the civilization and culture of the Bodo community will be taken care of as well as several schemes for development have been mentioned in it. He said that a central university will be built in the name of Upendra Nath Boroma as well as North East of Medical Science will also be established in Bodoland Territorial. Along with this, the agreement has also been mentioned in the opening of many institutions related to education, sports and medicine.
During this time, many non-Bodo groups in Assam are opposing the deal. At the same time, Leader of Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia appealed to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday to take all parties into confidence before signing any peace deal with Bodo groups.
