National Tourism Day: Tourism crowns economy on Agra
AGRA: Today is National Tourism Day. It is celebrated to make people aware of the contribution of tourism business in the country’s economy. The country’s tourism industry revolves around the Taj. The tourism business of Tajnagri also contributes between 3500 to 4000 crores in the country’s economy.
National Tourism Day is celebrated every year on 25 January. Its purpose is to make people aware of the contribution of tourism to the country’s economy. Agra is a major tourist destination. There are a large number of budget hotels and restaurants as well as major hotels, restaurants chains. Due to having three World Heritage monuments Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, about 70 lakh tourists come here every year. About three lakh people are dependent on tourism indirectly and indirectly.It is not only providing livelihood to the people, it is also contributing to the economy of the country.
The Archaeological Survey of India earns a lot from ticket sales to Indian and foreign tourists at the Taj. According to the data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, about 68 lakh tourists visited the Taj Mahal in the financial year 2018-19. The ticket sales generated over Rs 77 crore. 34 crore from Agra Fort, Rs 11.98 crore from Fatehpur Sikri from ticket sales.
