Lucknow police have registered an FIR against several protesters, including the son of Muslim religion guru Kalbe Sadiq, in the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) at Ghantaghar in Lucknow. An FIR has been registered for traffic jam and violation of Section 144.
A procession was taken out in support of the women performing at Clock tower on Friday. The clock tower was jammed due to the procession. In this case, the police has registered an FIR. A case has been registered in Thakurganj police station against 10 named and hundreds of unknown people under sections 145, 147, 188, 283 and 353 of Indian Penal Code i.e.
Let us tell you that there is a demonstration of women in Ghantaghar in Lucknow regarding CAA and NRC. Ramdhun and patriotic songs are giving the movement an edge over the protest venue. The protesters say that we will not tolerate this injury on the basic spirit of the Constitution. To save democracy, one has to go down the road.
The Congress and other opposition parties have united on the Citizenship Amendment Act. These opposition parties say that the Citizenship Amendment Act discriminates on the basis of religion. However, the Modi government says that this law has been provided for citizenship in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, people belonging to the oppressed minorities ie Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi and Buddhist communities.
