E-vehicle: TVS launched its first electric scooter iQube, the first sale will be from Bengaluru
TVS Motors has launched its first electric scooter iQube in the Indian market. The on-road price of this scooter is Rs 1.15 lakh. It will be sold first in Bangalore. After which it will also be sold in other cities of the country. The company says that it will produce only 1000 units every month.
At the launch event of the scooter, TVS Motor Chairman Venu Srinivasan said that TVS Motor caters to all the innovation customers. Our focus is on the ‘green and connected’ youth of the country. We have included these in TVS Electric’s portfolio. TVS iCube is built on the Electric Advanced Drivetrain and Next Generation TVS SmartExconnect platform.
The company first introduced this scooter at the 2012 Auto Expo. It has SmartExconnect connected tech, LED headlamp with LED DRL and taillamps. The electric motor given in the scooter generates power of 6 bhp and torque of 140 Nm. At the same time, its top speed is 78 kmph.
The iQube has a 4.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is fully charged in about 5 hours. However, the company has not yet provided fast charging for this. In the Indian market, it can compete with Bajaj Chetak Electric, Athar 450 and Okinawa Prze.
