Phone tapping occurred during Maharashtra election
During the Maharashtra Assembly elections, a case of phone tapping of Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders has come up. The Uddhav government has ordered an inquiry into the matter on Friday. This phone tamping was done during the attempt to form a government after the election results.
According to sources, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut are among the leaders whose phones were tapped. After the news of phone tamping came out, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that I am a disciple of Bal Thackeray, whatever I do, I do openly.
Giving more information about this, Minister in Maharashtra Cabinet Anil Deshmukh said that during the Maharashtra elections, the phones of non-BJP leaders were being tapped. We have ordered an inquiry into this serious issue. Sanjay Raut while quoting a senior BJP leader said that he had already been warned about this.
Allegations of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut
Raut wrote on his Twitter handle, ‘Your phone is being tapped, a BJP government minister had told long ago. Then I told him that anyone who wants to hear my conversation should listen. I am a disciple of Balasaheb Thackeray. I do not hide anything.
According to reports, apart from Sanjay Raut, phones of NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Senna chief Uddhav Thackeray were also being tapped. Phone tapping, after the elections when a meeting was going on between all the major parties to form the government, things were going on even during that time.
What did the Maharashtra Home Minister say?
In this case, the Home Department of Maharashtra has now ordered an inquiry. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Thursday that if the matter of phone tapping is true then it is misuse of government machinery. Talking to Aaj Tak’s reporter, Anil Deshmukh said that understanding the seriousness of the matter, Mumbai Cyber Cell has been ordered to investigate immediately. Which shows that the phone tapping of other opposition leaders was going on.
Maharashtra Home Minister said, ‘The cyber cell of Maharashtra Police has been asked to investigate. During the previous government, anyone whose phone has been tapped will be investigated in all cases. This investigation is being done in light of the complaints of opposition leaders. Which was done during the formation of the new government of Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra.
He further said that there is no doubt that during the previous government, the system was misused for tapping phones of the leaders of the opposition. He alleged that during this time Mumbai Cyber Cell was sent to Israel for study.
