Supreme court hearing on CAA, Sibal’s appeal -postpone process for 3 months

There is a big hearing in the Supreme Court today amid protests across the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act. More than 144 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court opposing CAA. Of these, a petition has been filed against 141 laws, 1 in support of the law and one from the Central Government. Before the hearing, some women protested against this law outside the court. Chief Justice has said on this that I do not think any process can be withdrawn. We can implement such an order, which will suit the current situation.

11:01 IST Procedure to be deferred for three months … Advocate Vikas Singh, Indira Jaising said in court that there are more than 10 petitions from Assam, the case is completely different. A separate order should be issued regarding Assam. An appeal has been made by Kapil Sibal that if there is no stay on this matter, then it should be postponed for the month of China.


Hearing started in Supreme Court … Petitions filed on Citizenship Amendment Act have started in Supreme Court. The Attorney General told the court that so far he has received a copy of 60 out of 144 petitions. On this, Kapil Sibal said that the issue is whether the matter should be referred to the Constitutional Bench. He also questioned the process of NPR, which will start in April.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that there is talk of giving citizenship to 40 thousand people in UP, if this happens then how will the law be returned.
