Thinner men have less SEX than fat men, says study
There are many disadvantages and health hazards of being overweight but it seems a man’s sex life is an exception to this. According to a recent study, overweight men or those with higher BMI have more sex than those who are on the lighter side of the weighing scale.
Scientists and researchers from the Anglia Ruskin University in the UK arrived at this interesting conclusion—that fat men have more sex than thin men—after analysing almost 5,000 sexually active British people. The study was published in the journal PLOS One. Surprisingly, men with more flabs had lesser body image issues than thin men and that gave them the confidence to have sex, stated the report. The researchers also found that overweight women were also 16 per cent more likely to have more sex than their thinner counterpart.
The researchers, who carried out the study which is believed to be the first to draw a link between the weight of a person and his frequency of intercourse, also made this observation that overweight people are more likely to be in a happier and satisfying relationship. “I believe the observed association is owing to spouses in satisfying relationships relaxing their efforts to maintain their weight because they are no longer motivated to attract a mate. Therefore, those who are overweight are more likely to be in a happy and satisfying relationship and…more likely to engage in frequent sexual activity,” lead researcher Dr Lee Smith told the journal PLOS One.
This news might come as a relief to a lot of people who are struggling to lose weight, however, they should take this with a pinch of salt. According to other studies, overweight people or people with higher BMI suffers from sexual problems. According to a report published in WebMD, “Up to 30% of obese people seeking help controlling their weight indicate problems with sex drive, desire, performance, or all three. Often, the latest research shows, these problems can be traced to physical conditions that co-exist with obesity.”
What people should aim for is to have the perfect BMI rather than trying to lose weight unnecessarily just to look good and magazine-cover-worthy. Because health is wealth and only a person with a healthy body and mind can have a happy and fulfilling sex life, right?
